Artist Statement
Immersing myself in lush, tropical escapes is one of my greatest joys, and my art is a window into that world.
Since childhood, I’ve cherished the feeling of being transported, like my first memorable trip to Bangkok at age nine, where I was captivated by the colours, textures, and culture.
To this day, I still believe few feelings rival that moment of discovery. Travel helps transport us, but it also shapes a deeper understanding of ourselves. My art serves as a window into both an external and internal world. It’s an exploration of joy, wonder, and a sense of expansion into ourselves and our connections with one another.
While my art is inspired by travels to places like Bali and Thailand, other inspirations are also woven in: snippets of Hong Kong, my hometown, and daily life in Vancouver, where I now call home. From still life tablescapes to zooming out into the wider scene, I love capturing moments that slow me down to appreciate everyday beauty. There is a simplicity to this feeling of joy. Whether it’s an abundance of fruit in a bowl, gathering at a table with loved ones, or simply feeling the warmth of the sun, these moments are an invitation to exhale, let go, and savour simple joys, wherever you happen to be.
