Jorge Martinez Garcia

Jorge Martínez Garcia was born in Chile in 1963. He developed his artistic skills, especially engraving, in Ecuador between 1985 and 1991, simultaneously becoming a professor of modern philosophy, specializing in aesthetics and the philosophy of religion. Once more resident in his native Chile, he was appointed a professor of printmaking, painting and drawing in two universities in Valparaiso.

The works of Jorge Martínez are displayed widely in private and public collections and have been exhibited in one-man shows in Canada and Germany, as well as in Argentina, Ecuador and Chile. He has participated in exhibitions throughout the world, including Japan, the USA, Canada, Spain, France, the Republic of Macedonia, Colombia and Cuba. Among many public collections holding his work is the Bibliothèque Nationale de France which, unusually, acquired five pieces.
